i’m finished with school!! exams went very well, and i’m so happy to be done. saying goodbye to everyone was surreal, and it still hasn’t fully set in. about a week ago, i had an epiphany right in the middle of lunch. i don’t know why, but the realization of leaving everything that has become normal life for me never became a reality. i starting doing the “this is my last time eating rice, beans, and posho in the dining hall,” and “this is my last time walking to town” thing in my head. but, it’s done and i’ve already left and it’s finally starting to sink in.
sooo, at the moment, i’m in Kenya. i decided that i wanted to take advantage of being in east africa, so i braved the 17 hour bus ride across the border, and i’m now with my friend from school in Nairobi. we’re off to Mombasa tomorrow bright and early — hope to get some pictures to you.
i’ve decided that Christmas is anti-climactic here: it is just as hot if not hotter than the first day i arrived, there isn’t a huge wave of commercialism that shows up everywhere, and there really aren’t a whole lot of Christmas decorations up on buildings or houses. Aside from missing my favorite Christmas carols, and driving past the lights at night, i’m not that upset about missing the Christmas rush.
I’ll see most of you very soon, but until then — Hope the next couple weeks are wonderful, and Merry Christmas!
